This coming Saturday evening, you will want to come and hear the Starlight Symphony Orchestra and the Starlight Youth Orchestra in concert here at FBC Wimberley! Concert starts at 7:30 pm. Here are the fe atured pieces on the program:

Singing Men of South Texas to appear in Concert

is composed of Ministers of Music and church musicians from churches in South Texas from Georgetown to McAllen and Del Rio to Port Lavaca. Tommy Lyons has been director of the group since 1979. Six other such groups as this go together to form Singing Men of Texas. First Baptist Church, Wimberley, is happy to have them in concert in our community. The event is free.

I’m looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of life around FBC Wimberley. The holidays are great, but it’s a little stressful figuring out rehearsal times, etc., since we have holiday schedules to deal with. Therefore, it’s going to be a really good thing to get back into a normal schedule. I’m not complaining. I certainly needed the Christmas break as much as the next person!

…Today I had to remove an earlier post. In that post, I suggested everyone read an article written by someone else. It was about why the church needed artists. Seems there were some offensive things said in the comments section of the article which I was directing people to read.

Nothing wrong with the article itself, just the comments afterward. I lament the fact that some people have to be inappropriate and indecent when posting comments on the internet. You have to use so much caution these days. I want to thank the gentleman who pointed the problem out. Sometimes I need to be more careful about other sites I link to.

FBC Wimberley goes Christmas caroling

Last night, we had a terrific time Christmas caroling to some of our homebound church members. Those who we sang to were blessed, but I believe we who were caroling were blessed even more. This is something we do every year around this time. And it’s a very special time for all involved. About 30 people went caroling this year. It’s one of our favorite things to do all year because it just lifts the spirits of so many people!
